Environmental Operating Solutions selects Coyne Chemical as Mid-Atlantic Distributor for its MicroC™ line of products
—MicroC™ Premium Carbon Sources a natural fit with Coyne’s successful track record of introducing new solutions to the region’s wastewater treatment facilities —
BOURNE, Mass., October 15, 2008 —Environmental Operating Solutions, Inc. (EOSi) announced today that it has selected the George S. Coyne Chemical Co., Inc. (Coyne) as mid-Atlantic distributor for its MicroC™ Premium Carbon Sources. Recently celebrating 140 years in business, Coyne’s strong regional distribution network and technical sales and support capabilities will expand the availability of the MicroC™ line of wastewater denitrification products in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland and Virginia. In addition to its robust market presence in the region, Coyne also provides EOSi with a valuable logistics partner, enabling new service offerings including mini-bulk delivery. Mini-bulk enables Coyne to eliminate the cost and inconvenience of handling drums and totes by providing a bulk storage tank on the customer premises.
MicroC™ Premium Carbon Sources are agriculturally based products engineered specifically for the denitrification of wastewater. Plants have historically used methanol for denitrification. However, recent accidents involving flammable methanol, as well as growing concerns about its pricing and availability have caused the wastewater industry to examine alternative products. MicroC™ is currently manufactured in four locations, and is used in over 220 treatment plants across the United States. While other proposed alternatives have struggled with issues of broad availability and the quality and consistency of the delivered product, MicroC™ continues to receive positive reviews from customers and the engineering community.
The technical expertise of the Coyne personnel is an important component in expanding the acceptance of MicroC™ within the region. “Our sales representatives’ technical knowledge combined with our specialized delivery capabilities make Coyne a logical choice to introduce MicroC™ products in the region.” said David J. Maugle, Manager of Coyne Environmental, “MicroC™ gives us an opportunity to help the entire region meet its nitrogen reduction permit limits without endangering plant personnel or the environment.”
Eric Stoermer, President and Chief Executive Officer of EOSi, sees a bright future, “Our distribution relationship with Coyne will not only allow us to provide MicroC™ Premium Carbon Sources to more end users, but it also sets a high standard for technical support. We’re not just selling a premium product, we’re providing premium service.”
About MicroC™ Premium Carbon Sources
MicroC 1000™ and MicroC 1100™ are proprietary products developed by EOSi specifically for use as an electron donor/carbon source in wastewater denitrification. EOSi technical staff helps customers to implement and optimize the usage of these products within their plants. The MicroC™ line of products has been engineered to overcome the key limitations of methanol and other carbon sources, including:
- Improved Safety: MicroC 1000™ is a completely nonflammable, nontoxic and 100% green product, composed entirely of renewable components.
- Quality and Consistency: MicroC™ products are manufactured to stringent quality specifications.
- Environmental Sustainability: MicroC™ products are manufactured from abundant and renewable agricultural raw materials.
- Price Stability and Cost Effectiveness: MicroC™ products have historically avoided the price fluctuations of other chemicals. They offer an economical means of reducing nitrogen load and the potential to circumvent or scale back costly nitrogen-removal upgrades to comply with increasingly stringent regulatory requirements.
- Improved Performance: MicroC™ enables faster denitrification startup and recovery periods, and improved performance in colder temperatures.
